And yes, we did it again, the current Service Pack is not just bug fixes. We've also added some new features to make sure that your investment in EasySIGN version 5 software stays a good investment.

For a complete listing of all what is fixed and improved (and the new drivers) see the Service Pack History in the restricted area.

AI-Export

The AI-Export now supports native gradients, a Masking Group is exported including its Fill- and/or Pen Style and the AI-Export also now supports Spot Color gradients. Some export options for more control are added in the export dialog.

PDF-Export

The AI-Export now supports SpotColors and SpotColor gradients.

Links

If a .ES file and its links have been moved to another drive or subfolder, all links had to be reselected one by one. Now you only have to correct the path for one file. EasySIGN then automatically corrects the paths of all other links, using the filename and the last modified date and time to find out whether the other links are also located in the new location.

Dithering

A brand new dithering method has been implemented called "noise screen". This dithering method solves the problem of 'late starts' in light ink levels, as well as the 'worming' effect you might have seen in more traditional 'error diffusion' based dithering methods. Also, it gives a better color consistency at the expense of making a print look a little bit more fuzzy. We recommend using this dithering method, especially if you are printing on medias with low maximum ink levels, or on printers that support dot modulation. The older 'stochastic' screenings are still in there though, so if you decide you like those better go ahead!

We have decided not to replace existing profiles with this dithering method, simply because there might be a (very small) change in color, which would make repeat jobs more difficult. If you do not think this would case problems for you, then you can change your installed profiles manually by opening settings and double-clicking on the 'dithering' tab. There you can make the change yourself. All new profiles will be created with "noise screen" as default.

New in Compatibility

Advanced Compatibility for CorelDraw X3™

The advanced Compatibility for CorelDraw X3 ™ has been implemented (available with EasySIGN Professional license and Master), completely rewritten from the ground up to make sure you are benefiting form the latest technologies available. Twice as fast as in previous versions.

But that's not all.

We've also added some exciting new features for the advanced Compatibility.

Advanced Compatibility

A new group called "Various" (A) is added, here you can find the new features.

Create color swatches from active color palette* (B)

Like the name says, this option creates simple color swatches from the active color palette.

Synchronize : Export active color palette* (C)

This exports the active color palette to use in EasySIGN with the same names and values. After export is done, you will get a message box stating the name of the new color palette. In EasySIGN you can load the colors of this palette just like you would normally load colors from a color library. Select the fill bucket and then the icon for color tables, in the dialog select "Library". All exported libraries begin with an underscore to make it easy to find them.

Synchronize : Import new color palette* (D)

This imports a color table from EasySIGN as a new color palette for CorelDraw X3 ™. Just click this button and a dialog will open showing you the files in the Color Library folder of EasySIGN. Select a .tbx file and press the "Open" button, a new color palette will appear in CorelDraw X3™.

*An active color palette is the palette that is currently set as default. To set a color palette as the default palette, click on the topmost icon of that color palette and choose "set as default" from the menu that pops up.

Print to Print Server (E)

You now can print to the EasySIGN Print Server directly from within CorelDraw X3™. Adding hot folders, works almost the same as in EasySIGN. You have to add a new hot folder only once. You just have to do this again when you've added a new printer and/or new hot folder in the EasySIGN Print Server. From the moment a hot folder is known, you only have to press this button (E) and select the desired hot folder and setting (because you can add as many hot folders as you like).

The workflow (in a nutshell)

Click on the button shown below.

Advanced Compatibility

If this is the first time this dialog is opened, all controls will be empty.

Advanced Compatibility

Press the button labeled "Servers" to get started. The following dialog will appear.

Advanced Compatibility

Press the button labeled "Add".

Advanced Compatibility

In the dialog that appears, select the folder where your hot folders are placed (or select a drive if you have several locations, but this takes much longer to process) and press "OK".

In the previous dialog you now see a list of the available hot folders, remove any hot folder you not want to use or just accept all and press "OK". After this, the first dialog will have all the located hot folders available. Just select the one you want to use and press "Print".

The next time you use this function you only have to select the "Print" button, because now the hot folders are known.
