New in Service Pack 5.0.5

And again a Service Pack with additional bonuses. The sole purpose of a Service Pack is fixing bugs, where "bugs" is a very harsh word, most of the time these so called "bugs" are shortcomings that need to be addressed (and sometimes they are just bugs, after all, no one is perfect). Service Packs are a service, they are free and they make sure your investment in EasySIGN software, stays a good investment.

But we also like to give, if possible and if time allows, a new meaning to the word Service Pack. We like to give real value for money, meaning that we do not save every new and useful feature for an update but actually give it away during an ongoing release, and what better means than together with a Service pack?

The main goal of this Service Pack was to become completely compatible with Windows™ Vista™ and to become even more compatible with industry standard exchange formats. And we have succeeded in this with the exception of one item in the Vista part we are still working on (see this link for detailed information). This part will be addressed in a later Service Pack.

We think you are really going to like this release, just take a look below.

Windows Vista Compatible

Windows Vista Compatible

This Service Pack is Windows Vista Compatible. We have spent a lot of time to adapt EasySIGN (and of course the Print Server, Archive and all other parts of our product line) to this latest Operating System.

Screen display

The screen display has been completely overhauled to meet the new Windows Vista display method standards. As an additional bonus, other OS-es like Windows 2000 and Windows XP also benefit from these improvements. You'll notice a big overall performance boost. Bitmaps and TileFills will also display much faster.

Dismissing a dialog or switching back and forth to other windows with Alt-Tab no longer results in a lengthy redraw of the EasySIGN window. With this SP there will be an instant refresh.

Advanced Import

As of Service Pack 5.0.5, EasySIGN has a complete new import filter for PDF, Printable EPS and PostScript. This filter can import PDF, Printable EPS and PostScript as editable vector data (and as bitmap, if do desired). You can find this filter under the name "Advanced Import" in the import dialog. After selecting the file you want to import and pressing "Import", you will be presented the following dialog.

Advanced Import

A
Here you can choose whether you want to import the file as editable vector data or as a bitmap.
B
Here you can select the color space (CMYK or RGB), the DPI of the bitmaps in the file and a safety limit for file sizes. You can also select the use of alpha channels (for transparent backgrounds) and whether you want the bitmaps to be anti-aliased.
C
Activates the option ‘Intelligent Graphic Object Recognition’ for optimizing the vector objects within the imported file.
D
Select the desired page if multiple pages are available.
E
The preview of the selected page.

Best of all, this import filter is included in the following licenses, so there's no need to take any additional action after installing the Service Pack.

  • EasySIGN Professional
  • EasySIGN Master
  • EasySIGN Print Server-Pro
  • EasySIGN Print Server-Master

Advanced Import is available as an optional license for EasySIGN Starter and EasySIGN Routing.

Copy/Paste

It is now possible to not only copy and paste colors but also fill styles and pen styles. This means that if you copy a pen style you can paste not only the color to another object but also the pen width and other properties. As for fills you now can copy any kind of fill from one object to another like gradients, tile fills and of course any color regardless the color space.

New in Print Server

Advanced Import

As mentioned under the chapter "EasySIGN", the Print Server has also the new "Advanced Import" filter implemented. This makes the Print Server even more compatible with industry standard exchange formats like PDF (which is the preferred file format for the Print Server).
