Using EasySIGN under Windows 98
EasySIGN
version 4.X still supports Windows98™ and WindowsME™
but with some limitations. Not all functionality will work as
expected due to the fact that Windows98™ and WindowsME™
are outdated Operating systems that do not meet modern requirements
(Release dates : 30-Jun-1998 and 31-12-2000). EasySIGN is build
using .NET (dot-net) and therefore requires a reasonably up-to-date
Operating System.
Microsoft™ has ended hotfix support for Windows98 on 30-Jun-2003
and on 31-dec-2003 for WindowsME™. To take full advantage
of EasySIGN (and other modern applications) we strongly suggest
upgrading to at least Windows2000™ and even better, to WindowsXP™.

Due to ending the support for Windows98™ and WindowsME™
by Microsoft™, as of EasySIGN version 5, Windows98™
and WindowsME™ will no longer be supported. Until then,
EasySIGN version 4.X will keep supporting Windows98™ and
WindowsME™ (unless mentioned here otherwise) but with some
minor limitations. Check out the part below to find out what these
limitations are and the workarounds (if any).
Know limitations on Windows98™ with EasySIGN
Large Format Printing
Windows98™ is not
suited for Large Format Printing due to limitations in print sizes.
A maximum of 32767 pixels of width can be printed. This means
that on a 720 DPI printer, a maximum width of 45.5 Inch applies
(32767/720). Print length is not limited.

Query page size
After querying a page size EasySIGN has to be restarted before sending plot
data. This has to be done only once after a new query for a page size. Failing
to restart EasySIGN after querying a page size could cause EasySIGN to crash on
some Windows98™ operating systems. More recent Operating Systems like
Windows2000™ and WindowsXP™ do not have this limitation.
16-bit Applications and Windows 2000
EasySIGN
B.V. can not give any warranty regarding the consequences and/or
performances resulting out of the use of 16-bit version products
under Windows 2000™. The environment of Windows 2000™
is significantly different from previous Windows releases and
the 16bit version products were not developed for that specific
Operating System. EasySIGN’s 16-bit version products will
not function under Windows 2000™ and trying to install or
run these products under Windows 2000™ will mainly result
in error reports and there is no possibility to correct this issue.
Therefore, EasySIGN B.V. does not offer support and assistance
to issues arising out of and in connection with the hereby above
mentioned circumstances. If you want to maintain using the 16-bit
version products, EasySIGN B.V. advises you to keep using Windows
3.11™, Windows 95™, Windows 98(SE)™ or WindowsME™.
The products listed below will not function under Windows 2000:
- EasySIGN 16-bit version 8 & version 9 (and all previous
16-bit versions)
- MasonART 16-bit version (version 9)
EasySIGN B.V. recommends to contact your local dealer for information
about the 32-bit version products which are developed to meet
your requirements for the specific working environment of Windows
2000.
EasySIGN and Windows XP
Version
5 is especially optimized to work under Windows XP.
Older versions of EasySIGN, meaning the 16-bit versions 7, 8,
9 and the 32 bit version 2 do not work correctly under Windows
XP. We advise users of these versions to update to the latest
version 5, please contact your distributor for a current pricelist.
